As anyone will anxiety disorders will tell you, we can only too well recognise the onset of a panic attack.
You’re in the car, driving along the road, and the attack hits you. Palpitations, heart going like a power hammer, and then the sweating starts. First the palms, then all over. Another attack!.
You begin thinking about whether you should pull off the road and park up somewhere. So you slow down, and of course on a busy road with traffic all around, this is far from being an easy thing to do.
None of the usual suggestions figure in my 3 proven tips. They do not include things such as winding the windown down, thinking nice thoughts, and breathing deeply, however good those suggestions may be.
These are success proven practical tips, and they have worked for others apart from the author of this article.
Tip 1. Get a hands-free cellphone installed in your car. When fitted, and things are really tough with an attack you are having, then call someone. Call your wife, husband, friend, whoever, and have a NORMAL conversation. The first time I did this it worked great for me. I also know of someone who stopped having the attacks simply because she got the phone installed. She said it removed the fear of her being stranded on her own, which is a real terror often felt by anxiety disorder sufferers.
